Anthelmex Forte: Treatment of Mixed Infections by Nematodes and Cestodes in Dogs

Anthelmex Forte is a powerful dewormer designed to treat mixed nematode and cestode infections in dogs weighing more than 17.5 kg. This veterinary medicinal product combines pyrantel, febantel and praziquantel to provide synergistic action against a wide range of parasites.

Props and Ingredients

Properties: Anthelmex Forte is active against roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, cestodes, in particular Echinococcus spp., Taenia spp. and Dipylidium caninum.

Active ingredients: Febantel (525 mg), pyrantel (175 mg, equivalent to 504 mg of pyrantel embonate) and praziquantel (175 mg) per tablet.

Mode of Action

Pyrantel acts as a cholinergic agonist, causing spasmodic paralysis of nematodes, while febantel converts to fenbendazole and oxfendazole, inhibiting tubulin polymerization and leading to death of the parasite. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed by the parasite wall, causing damage to the integument and paralysis of the parasite.

Tips for Use

1 chewable tablet per 35 kg body weight. Chewable tablets can be given directly into the dog’s mouth or added to food. A special dietary regimen is not necessary before or after treatment.

Precautions

Contraindicated in dogs weighing less than 17.5 kg, during the first 4 weeks of gestation, in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or one of the excipients. Do not administer simultaneously with piperazine.
