Milbemax is a dewormer specially designed for small cats and kittens, effective against the immature and adult stages of cestodes and nematodes. It contains two active substances: milbemycin oxime and praziquantel, which work together to eliminate internal parasites.

Pharmacological Properties

• Milbemycin oxime belongs to the macrocyclic lactone family, produced by fermentation of Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. aureolacrimosus.
• Praziquantel is an acylated derivative of pyrazinoisoquinoline, active against cestodes and trematodes.

Instructions

• Treatment of mixed infestations with immature and adult stages of cestodes and nematodes.
• Prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), if concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated.

Tips for Use

The minimum recommended dose is 2 mg of milbemycin oxime per kg of body weight and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg of body weight, in a single dose, orally. The medication should be administered during or after a meal to provide optimal protection against heartworm disease.

Precautions for Use

Do not use in cats less than 6 weeks old and/or less than 0.5 kg. Wash your hands after use. In the event of accidental ingestion of tablets, particularly by a child, seek medical advice and show the doctor the box and/or the leaflet.

Adverse Effects

In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions, systemic signs, neurological signs and/or gastrointestinal signs may be observed after administration of the veterinary medicinal product.
