Virbac Effipro antiparasitic spray is an external product used to treat flea, tick and lice infestations in cats and dogs. It is composed of the active ingredient fipronil, which acts by inhibiting the central nervous system of parasites, leading to their death.

Properties

• Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole family.
• It acts by inhibiting the GABA complex, by binding to the chloride channel and thus blocking the pre- and postsynaptic passage of chloride ions across the cell membrane.
• Fipronil has insecticidal and acaricidal activity against fleas, ticks and lice in dogs and cats.

Instructions

• Treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.).
• Treatment of tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
• Treatment of biting lice infestations in dogs (Trichodectes canis) and cats (Felicola subrostratus).

Contraindications

• Do not use in sick or convalescent animals.
• Do not use in rabbits as undesirable effects, sometimes lethal, may occur.
• Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.

Dosage

Apply 3 to 6 ml per kg of body weight, depending on the length of the hair, using 6 to 12 sprays per kg of body weight of the 100 ml presentation or 2 to 4 sprays of the 250 ml presentation or 1 to 2 spray(s) of the 500 ml presentation.
